UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
In January of 2023, Ireland was reviewed by the Committee on the Rights of the Child after submitting its Fifth and Sixth Combined Report on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As part of this process, organisations were invited to submit their own alternative reports. In this report, we focussed on three core issues in relation to the rights of children and adolescents with disabilities – inclusive education, access to services and supports in the community and participation in decision - making. Under each area, we address Ireland’s progress since it was examined by the Committee in 2016, issues of concern, and recommendations.
